A garden is judged on six of them, not one.

Anybody can photograph their best job. Here are the last six we finished, in the order we finished them.

A planted courtyard with a stone path

Recent work

A terraced planting bed against a rendered wall

Courtyard, Delray Beach

Design and build · 7 weeks

A north-facing courtyard that got two hours of sun. Raised beds, a water feature to cover the road noise, and planting that does not mind shade.

A lawn edged with low hedging

Front garden, Boca Raton

Rebuild · 3 weeks

Removed a lawn that had never worked and replaced it with hedging, gravel and six specimen plants.

Stone paving through planting

Path and terrace, Highland Beach

Hard landscaping · 4 weeks

Reclaimed stone laid on a proper base, which is the half nobody photographs and the half that fails first.

Mature planting beside a house wall

Side return, Boynton Beach

Design and build · 5 weeks

Two metres wide and previously used for bins. Now the part of the house they sit in.

A border in full growth

Borders, Delray Beach

Planting · 2 weeks

A planting plan for an existing structure. No building work, just the right plants in the right places.

A garden seen from the house

Whole garden, Parkland

Design and build · 11 weeks

The largest thing we have built. Drawn in January, planted in March, photographed in June.

What we do

Design

A drawn plan you own, whether or not we build it.

Build

Hard landscaping, planting and irrigation, by the people who drew it.

Maintenance

Monthly or fortnightly, by the same two people each visit, who will tell you when something is dying before it does.

Irrigation and lighting

Installed at build stage where possible, because retro-fitting means digging up what we just laid.

We will tell you what a garden costs before we draw it.

A design that assumes a budget nobody stated is a drawing you cannot build, and we have been given several of them to fix.

So the first visit ends with a range, out loud. If the range is wrong for you, that visit cost you nothing and cost us an hour.

How it goes

A visit

An hour on site. We measure, we look at the light, and we give you a range before we leave.

A drawing

Scaled plan, planting list, itemised cost. Yours to keep.

The build

A start date, an end date, and the same crew from the first day to the last.

What clients say

They told us on the first visit that what we wanted would cost about double what we had in mind, which nobody else had done. Then they drew something we could afford.

The path is the thing I notice. Four years and not one stone has moved.

Same two people every fortnight for three years. They know the garden better than we do now.
